Demolition Derby Rules

 

 

DEFINITION OF DISQUALIFIED:  CAR AND DRIVER WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY HEAT FOR THE REST OF THE EVENT!

 

 

 

General Rules

1.  NO pick-ups, 4-wheel drives, convertibles, limousines, or hearses etc. will be allowed to participate.  Station wagons are OK.

2 . NO ALCOHOL will be allowed in the pit area. No one that is wearing a wrist band (pit pass) will be served alcohol until after the main has started

            a.If you or your pit crew is caught with alcohol, you will be immediately disqualified and asked to leave the premises.

3.  Drivers and pit crew must be at least 16 years of age.  Anyone under 18 must have signed parental consent.

4.  All drivers and pit crew enter at their own risk.

5.  All drivers and pit crew must fill out and sign release form or they will not be permitted to enter the pit area.

6.  No speeding or hotrodding around the pit area.  This will result in disqualification.

7.  There will be a $150.00 protest fee for anyone wishing to protest a car or driver.  PAY UP, OR SHUT UP!!!!

 

Rules for cars

1.  NO WELDING!!!!!!!!!

2.  All chrome, door handles, glass, body molding etc. must be removed.

3.  All interior must be removed.

            a. Removal of the dashboard, and driver's door panel are optional.

4.  Original gas tank must be removed from car.

            a.  Fuel tanks must be mounted securely inside the car, behind the driver's seat.

                        1.  6 gallon max. capacity

                        2.  Must be an approved fuel tank. (Boat tanks are OK)

5.  A brace MUST be mounted from the firewall to the roof in the windshield area.

6.  NO WELDING!!!!!!!!!

7.  Trimming corners of bumpers and fender wells is OK.

8.  Hoods must be bolted or chained shut.

            a.  Maximum of 6 points.  Hinges count as 2 points.

            b.  Bolts may be no longer than 6" and 3/4" max. diameter.  Sheet metal to sheet metal only.

            c.  Oversized washers may be used, but must not exceed 4" diameter.

            d.  Single wrap chain only.

9.  Trunks must be bolted or chained shut.

            a.  Maximum of 8 points.

            b.  Bolts may be no longer than 4" and 3/8" max. diameter.  Sheet metal to sheet metal only.

            c.  No oversized washers may be used.

            d.  Single wrap chain only.

10.  Doors must be chained shut. 

            a.  Maximum of 4 points per door.

            b.  Single wrap chain only.

11.  No frame chains.

12.  Body bolts and mounts must remain stock. 

            a.  No adding extra body bolts.

13.  No suspension modifications allowed.

            a.  Overload springs must be removed.

            b.  Aftermarket shackles must be removed or lowered to lowest point.

            c.  Steering and shocks may not be modified.

14.  Motors & transmissions must remain stock and in stock location.

            a.  Motors & transmissions must be family line to make of car. 

            b.  Motors & transmissions may be fastened securely with chain.  NO WELDING!!!!!!!!!

15.  Radiators must remain stock and in stock location.

            a.  Fans may be removed.

            b.  No wire mesh between radiator and fan.

            c.  NO OTHER COOLING IS ALLOWED.

16.  Transmission coolers may be used if they are mounted securely in the rear seat area.

            a.  Cooler lines must be steel or hydraulic hose.  NO FUEL LINE!!

17.  Carburetor linkage and transmission linkage may be modified.

18.  Exhaust must be cut off a minimum of 3 feet from the manifold.

            a.  Headers through the hood are allowed.

 

19.  Batteries must be moved inside of car to front passenger floor area and mounted securely and covered.

20.  All cars must have working brakes.

21.  No extra weight may be added to cars.

22.  No frame modifications or reinforcement.

23.  Pre-bending body tin and frame notching is OK.

            a.  NO REWELDING NOTCHES IN FRAME!! 

23.  D.O.T. approved tires only.  Maximum of 16" wheel.  No split rims.

            a.  No ag. or studded tires.

            b.  No tire flaps or tire inside tire.

            c.  Air only in tires.

24.  (2)-12 inch diameter holes must be cut in hood on each side of carburetor to aid in extinguishing fires.

            a.  1 fire rule.  If you catch fire once, you may NOT continue.

            b.  Drivers are encouraged to degrease engines to reduce risk of fire.

25.  Shock bumpers may be fastened securely with a short piece of chain. (5" long max. length)

            a.  NO WELDING!!!!

            b.  Shock bumpers MUST be functional.

            c.  Bumper height must not exceed 18" to bottom of bumper.

26.  Rearends must be of passenger car origin.

            a.  Locked, posi, or spool is OK.

            b.  No truck rearends.

            c.  Must be of family line. 

27.  All cars will have a WHITE driver's door.

            a.  No white cars.

28.  Numbers on cars should be painted large and bold to assist judges and the crowd in determining who you are.  Roof signs are OK.

 

NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS OTHER THAN WHAT IS LISTED WILL BE ALLOWED!  YOU MUST MEET THE ABOVE RULES OR PLAN ON NOT ATTENDING THE DERBY.  YOU WILL BE GIVEN ONLY 1 CHANCE TO PASS INSPECTION.  IF YOU DON'T PASS, YOU WILL NOT RUN!  NO EXCEPTIONS!!

 

Heat rules

1.  NO HITTING DRIVER'S DOOR.

2.  Head-on hits are OK.

3.  All cars will be given a white flag upon entering the arena.  The flagged must be displayed once the car has been counted out.  You will have 2 minutes to restart your car.

4.  No pitmen allowed in the arena.

5.  Any vehicle with 3 wheels over the dirt berm will be considered out of bounds.  JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL!

6.  Non-aggressive driving or sandbagging will result in 1 warning, then disqualification.  A 20 second hit limit will be implemented.

7.  No pinning or holding.

8.  The last car to make contact under its own power in each heat will be considered the winner.  In the event of a hang-up, the last 2 cars will be pulled apart.

            a.  Only 1 car out of each heat and the consi will advance to the feature.

9.  All drivers counted out in a heat must remain in the car with helmet and seatbelt on until the heat is over.

            a.  Exception:  If your car is on fire and you are in danger, you may exit the car.

10.  The winner of each heat will be subject to inspection before leaving the arena if cheating is suspected.

11.  The winning driver of each heat must drive the same car in the feature.  No driver swaps.

12.  Any car that does not advance to the feature out of a heat, is encouraged to enter the consolation.

13.  In the event of a roll over, the car will be rolled back on its wheels for safety, but may NOT continue.

14.  The top 3 cars in the feature WILL BE reinspected before any money is awarded. 

15.  ALL JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL!!  VIDEO REPLAYS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.  ARGUING WITH THE JUDGES WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION AND/OR FORFEIT OF WINNINGS.  THIS INCLUDES THE PITCREW, SO DRIVERS, MAKE SURE YOUR PITCREW KEEPS THEIR COMMENTS TO THEMSELVES.  THEY COULD COST YOU ALOT OF MONEY!!!

 

 

WE WANT TO HAVE A FUN, SAFE, AND COMPETITIVE DERBY.  CHEATERS AND WHINERS ARE NOT WELCOME.
